Meetings
A growing and friendly lodge, Alar was consecrated in 1951. Over the years we have met at several different locations and are now settled in our home at Freemasons’ Hall in London, which has a museum, library, cafĂ©, bar and shop. A Saturday Lodge, Alar meets on the afternoons of the first Saturday in March, the second Saturday in April, the third Saturday in September (installation) and the third Saturday in December. Our meetings are followed by a dinner known as the ‘Festive Board’ which is held at the Doubletree Hotel close by. We welcome members from all walks of life and are particularly proud of our bonds of friendship and fraternity.
Mentoring
We have a knowledgeable team of Masons at Alar Lodge who will guide you through your Masonic career. You will be offered as much help and advice as you need so that you can get the most from your membership.
Lodge of Instruction
These are our ritual practice and rehearsal meetings led by senior Masons at Freemasons’ Hall, on the preceding two Wednesday evenings before each Lodge meeting. This is where Freemasons learn their rituals and presents an opportunity to learn the ceremonies to be conducted at our meetings.
Ritual
Alar Lodge ritual is based on that demonstrated at the Emulation Lodge of Improvement, and set out in the Emulation Ritual book as published by Lewis Masonic.
Progression
At Alar Lodge there are plenty of opportunities for progression. These range from participation in ritual work to Charity Steward, Almoner, Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster, among others. You will learn from experienced Masons who will give you all the assistance you might need to succeed in your Masonic career.
A Lodge for the Future
Whilst maintaining the history and traditions of Freemasonry, Alar is a progressive lodge that incorporates a number of digital applications into its management systems. We use technology for communications, dining bookings and payments, membership payments and charitable donations. Even ritual books can be downloaded onto mobile phones, tablets and computers. We take pride in being able to offer our members a complete digital service using only a smartphone for their Masonic administration if they so choose.
Holy Royal Arch Chapter Affiliation
Alar Lodge is affiliated to Torch Chapter which meets on the mornings of the third Saturday in March, the second Saturday in May, and the first Saturday in October (installation). Torch Chapter works the Aldersgate ritual.
